Germany´s Leading-Edge Clusters Competition

Winning the "leading edge" cluster competition run by the Federal Government in the year 2010, EffizienzCluster LogistikRuhr has now positioned itself as a worldwide center for the groundbreaking design of high-class and efficient logistics services.

To strenghten the Competitiveness of the Location

Within the Federal Government’s high-tech strategy, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports the most effective German clusters on their way to becoming top international performers. In total, 15 clusters receive awards in three different rounds of the competition. The Federal Government sponsors the projects in the EffizienzCluster to the tune of 40 million Euros:
In the first period from 2010 until 2012, 27 projects started with funding payments amounting to 36 million Euros.
In the second period from 2012 until 2015, another four projects will be implemented.
Six existing projects are already integrated in the cluster and since then are being managed as associated projects. Other research projects are constantly being integrated in the cluster as associated projects. The total volume of the cluster amounts to more than 100 million Euros.
